Ascension Address
As the sun sinks beneath the horizon, and the SS Haniver sinks beneath the freezing waters of the Atlantic, a single lifeboat steers its way through the wreckage. Driftwood and flotsam clunk against its hull, and the Captain scans the dark water for survivors.
Replace “Gladiator” with “Survivor” and “Announcer” with “Captain”, throughout the ruleset.
Players
Final Ruleset
Posts of Interest
- A Long Way From Home gave the Survivors dates for when they last Ate and Slept
- Don't Be Silly gave them Sanity levels
- A Noisy Noise Annoys An Oyster Most defined a Sanity level of six as "Sane" and gave Survivors the option to reduce each other's Sanity
- Guess What I Found allowed Survivors to reveal one item in their possession, some of which could be edible; revealing an improbable object risked a Sanity decrease
- Nobody Touch This Cake allowed Survivors to eat edible items, and to sleep, risking their possessions being stolen
- Giant Roast Turkeys added Sanity penalties for failing to eat or sleep for too long
- Land’s Not a Word We Have to Shout allowed Sane Survivors to sight land
- What Year Is This? voted on a year for the game to be happening in, for narrative's sake. It was averaged to 1933.
- Objections added a way to add effects to items, which was similar to the proposal system but had some differences
- It’s not stealing - It’s salvaging allowed items to be found in the sea, but with the "Damp" status
- ηβ linked to a historical list of items to choose from when salvaging
- Eureka! Fish fish! defined a use for fishing equipment
- The Sad Tale of the SS Haniver allowed some items to also be Clues; players couldn't win until they'd examined at least three Clues
- Eureka! Nobody Likes Me defined a use for cans of worms
- Pandora's Fridge divided food into portions
- Ahoy-Hoy allowed the Survivors to encounter Ships, and made Landfall a victory condition, with all such encounters requiring persuasing a quorum of other Survivors to row towards it
- And They All Dead Did Lie added Death and a last-player-standing victory condition
- Eureka! The ticking, it’s getting me! added an effect for the leather cased desk clock made by Curtis of Horspool.
- Eureka! This compass does not point north gave the Compass of Jack Sparrow an effect
- We Are Not Worthy added a Valuable flag to some items, making them count towards a Landfall victory if held
- One Pair of Hands capped players' inventories
- I Feel It Too allowed insane Survivors to predict the approach of The Doom
- Ship Ahoy: scshunt thought they saw a ship, but were mistaken
- Eureka! Up Periscope! (Eurekas were now regular proposals) allowed the periscope to boost the opinion of its holder during a sighting
- Ship Ahoy! The Survivors encountered a ship, although history does not relate what sort.
- To Serve Man opened the door to cannibalism
- This Lifeboat Ain’t Big Enough For the Two of Us! allowed survivors to raise a vote to throw someone overboard, if they'd stolen or destroyed an item recently
- Eject Wooble! - Wooble was thrown overboard
- Eject Bateleur - Bateleur also
- The Doom Approaches - OMD predicted Doom, but was found to be Dead
- Eject Darknight! - Darknight was thrown overboard for stealing the Captain's lawn shears
Ascension
Bateleur was the only survivor left alive on September 29th, all others having gone mad through starvation, keelhauling or sunstroke, and declared victory.
