The Twenty-Sixth Dynasty of Josh

25 November 2025 - 8 January 2026
Ascension Address
Our operations achieved record production levels this year, with Chert output at Passenficks increasing 18% year-over-year to 425,000 tonnes, while maintaining our industry-leading safety performance with zero fatalities across all sites. The successful commissioning of our new processing facility in the third quarter, combined with operational excellence initiatives that reduced unit costs by 12%, positioned us to capitalize on favourable commodity prices throughout the period. Our commitment to sustainable mining practices earned recognition from multiple stakeholder groups, and our community investment programs supported over 15,000 local residents through education, healthcare, and infrastructure development initiatives. Strong cash generation enabled us to reduce net debt by 340m while increasing our dividend by 25%, reflecting our confidence in the business and dedication to delivering shareholder value.
Looking ahead, our robust project pipeline and exploration success at the Passenficks property provide a clear pathway for continued growth and enhanced returns. Over the next quarter we expect to invest heavily in bringing on new capability and exploring new markets.
- From the Bigger Mining Conglomerate's Annual Report to Investors
Repeal all dynastic rules. Rename the Bigger Mining Conglomerate to the Prospect Survey Corps and rename Miners to Mining Conglomerates. Deactivate all Building Blocks, then activate Mantle Passing, Reinitialisation, and Precondition Unidling. Set the gamestate tracking page to the Global Mining Asset Platform page.
Gameplay summary
Players could use their Claims to bid on ownership stakes in Mines, and then exploit those mines for resources and victory points. Pro-pooling mechanics were switched on and this dynasty saw a complex ecosystem of agreements flourishing.

Core Amendments
- A Scam by any other Name (JonathanDark) – attempted to clarify what counts as a core rules scam (and thus is banned by Fair Play)
- Let Me Do That For You (JonathanDark) – defined "Indirect Action", clarifying the rules for one player performs an action on behalf of another
- Preconditions that work (ais523) – fixed some bugs in the Precondition Unidling rule
- Proper Timeline (Clucky) – changed Precondition Unidling to use proposals rather than CFJs
- CfJ Changes 3.0 (Lawnomos) – pinned down exactly when idle players could post CFJs (always) and vote on CFJs (only if irrelevant to dynastic gameplay)
- Victory is its own Flavour (JonathanDark) – prevented interpreting words in a victory condition rule as referring to flavour-text dynastic variables
- An alternative to comment spam (ais523) – allowed performing multiple comments into one when performing actions in quick succession
- Dynastic Auto-Uphold (ais523) – tracker updates are automatically upheld after a week, if nobody challenges them
- End of story (ais523) – Story Posts are recognised as such even if the category wasn't applied (and can be moved into the category)
Notable events
The Under Scam
A scam succeeded in which DoomedIdeas was able to take the first Dig Action and then earn VR by Fully Developing several of the Mines in which DoomedIdeas was the first to take a Dig Action. This was due the clause "If a Party takes a Dig Action that brings the Dig Depth of that Development to, or under, the Depth of that Mine" using the word "under", which was visually correct when thinking about Dig Depth but not mathematically correct. As scams go, it was uncontroversial and fixed with a simple Proposal: Brendan would have liked this one
The Early Mine / Slacker Scam
A scam was attempted which would allow future Mines to be opened early, and which would also force all of their Owners to be labelled Slackers, allowing the performer to harvest the progress before anyone else had a chance to react. It was eventually reverted by CfJ, but not after some scandal and controversy surrounding gamestate reversion and the peremptory closure of live posts. The discussion played out through the following posts:
- CfJ: Since Right Now, ais523: the first CfJ posted, and the one that eventually passed, offering a clean reversion of the scam. Was enacted 4-3, after ais' DEF was noticed as being inadmissible, forcing them to change to FOR, despite there being an apparent majority who believed at some level that the scam had been legitimate.
- On the use of admin powers during disputes, ais523: A discussion post about the merits of the use of admin powers to alter facts on the ground during a live discussion.
- Open the Mines, Lawnomos: A discussion post serving the same function.
- Stop Reverting Please, JonathanDark: A further discussion post specifically about wiki reversions.
- Protecting a Sea Full of Stars, Lawnomos: Attempted to halt activity in one of the impacted Mines, and to close off the Forced Development mechanic that allowed the scammers to push their opened Mines through. Failed as it was too limited in scope and was overtaken by events.
- A Request for Civil Discussion, JonathanDark: A CfJ that proposed to acknowledge the underlying scam and permit it up until the point at which a disputed action by Lawnomos further obfuscated the gamestate. Failed as its passage would have created a timing issue (see next entry).
- The Ocean Timing Scam Roll-off, ais523: One of the mines saw a contested action, in which Lawnomos performed a roll-off incorrectly, the reversion of which would immediately create an opportunity for whoever could act upon it first. In order to ease the pressure on the resolution discussion, the affected parties - ais523 and Lawnomos - agreed a roll-off that could be incorporated into any solution, allowing the Mine's status to be resolved without creating a timing opportunity.
- Did the Development Scam Work or Not?, JonathanDark: A second attempt to establish a clean gamestate in which the underlying scam worked. Ultimately failed for a variety of reasons, including the passage of Since Right Now making an uphold-outcome redundant.
- No Penalty for Continued Discussion, JonathanDark: Extended all of the legitimately in-progress Mines to allow for the dust to settle after the scam.
- Technical Restart, Clucky: A late attempt at a compromise, in which the scam that started the Mines was upheld but the scam that forced their participants to be made slackers was not. Seems to have contained some procedural issues but ultimately was rendered obsolete by the passage of Since Right Now.
The Multi-Use Claim Scam
Another scam was attempted whereby it was argued that each individual Claim could be used against multiple Prospects.
- Award of Territories 3227, Josh: The award of Territories post where the scam came to light. Was replaced (as per the list above) in the aftermath of the scam.
- Words Have Meanings, Clucky: Attempted to revert the Award of Territories post without resolving the scam itself or the underlying issues. Failed.
- A Claim That These Claims Are Invalid, JonathanDark: A CfJ that proposed that the scam Allocation was invalid, and which allowed for the Award of Territories post to be remade. Was enacted 4-3, with Josh's Imperial DEF being forced off of the fence.
- One Last Loose End, Josh: A secondary strand to the issue was the claim, asserted by Clucky, that because the Award of Territories post had been improperly made it did not constitute a legal resolution to the action, allowing players to continue to update their Claims. This CfJ attempted to reject that argument; it failed, as a combination of the direct editing of the Award post and the passage of A Claim That These Claims Are Invalid rendered it unnecessary.
- The allocations are being disputed: but what about the Prospects?, ais523: A third strand argued that the Prospects had been improperly generated; this CfJ resolved that argument.
- Correct Timing, Clucky: A CfJ by Clucky which attempted to thread the needle whereby the initial scam was rejected but they were still able to continue to update their Claims. Failed.
Ascension
An attempted bidding scam (see above) in the 7th round resulted in a sequence of CfJs. When the dust had settled, it was found that there was only a very slim chance that the frontrunner, DoomedIdeas, could be caught, so a proposal to cut short the remainder of rounds 7 and 8 was enacted, leading to DoomedIdeas winning early. The DoV passed unanimously, and DoomedIdeas kept the mantle after a rolloff with JonathanDark (DoomedIdeas 20%, JonathanDark 80%).
